‘UDP not behind operation 3 years Jotna’

By Saidou S Baldeh

The leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) Ousainou Darboe, has emphatically made it clear that his party is not behind ‘Operation 3 Years Jotna’

Darboe was speaking recently in an interview with a Brikama Based Radio Station ‘Membekering’ on issues about the party’s central committee meeting, Operation 3 years ‘Jotna’ protest among host of others.

The UDP leader said: “People that want to bring the issues of 3 years ‘Jotna’ protest closed to our party just want to tarnish our image. I can tell you that UDP as a party is not supporting 3 years ‘Jotna’. In fact if we were supporting the 3 years ‘Jotna’ as a party, we will have announced it and the entire world will know about it,” he stated.

Last month, the UDP issued a press statement dispelling rumors that it is involved in organizing protest as the 3-year proposed term for President Adama Barrow nears its end. The party also dissociated itself to the 3 years ‘Jotna’ protest when they were arrested last month during their protest at Senegambia by securities personnel.

“We’re not party that depend on people. We’re not party that push people in front to do something and then we seat behind. Anything that we do as a party, we will announce it and we will do our best towards those issues.”

He said that the central committee meeting which is to be attended by it members will avail themselves the opportunity to discuss on issues surrounding the party. “At the meeting, we will also discuss about our party members that are being dismissed by the government on no genuine reason and give a report on the issues.”
