Essau Senior Secondary School management organized forum to assess students in all subjects and to ensure effective and efficient learning and teaching environment on Saturday.
The forum brought together stakeholders teachers, students, board members, cluster monitors and representatives of school management committee to critically review performance and work attaining quality education and come up with recommendation to ensure academic board is closely monitor and guide in strengthen standard in marking scheme.
Modou Touray, chairman of board of directors Essau Senior Secondary School commended the management and Staff of for their dedication and commitment to improve teaching and learning in school.
He assured of board continued and support in promoting good governance and sound management practices geared towards attainment of quality teaching and learning.
Essau Senior Secondary School Principal Adama Jeng, underscored the significance the school attaches in holding termly performance analysis of students at all levels, with the view to make teachers to effectively monitor and make the school a center of excellence.
He disclosed that the school has spent D200, 000 on the science department to ensure right equipment and tools are available in more responsive to the requirement of WAEC for students to write science subjects.
Principal Jeng said the review meeting on the performance of students would help head of department to do technical vetting, accountability and promote corrective measures by the academic board.
He reiterated his commitment to provide periodic capacity development of staff to boost compliance and standards.
Pa Amadou Mbowe representatives of school management committee said such forums are important as it help to share the outcomes with parent’s teachers association (PTA) and solicit support in working with teachers to consolidate performance of students.
He expressed concerned on inadequate participation and involvement of parents to monitor progress and punctuality of students.
Kumba Ndure head girl and Sulayman Keita head boy said the review meeting will encourage teachers to redouble their efforts in providing conducive learning environment for study.
The duos used the moment to calls on their fellow students to take up learning seriously, noting that the recent validation on poor performance of students at WASCE is a cause for concern.
The student leaders praised the school authority for providing them the opportunity to speak out and shared their concerns with academic board, teachers and school authority.
