The leader of the Gambia Action Party (GAP), Musa Yali Batchilly, who was fined guilty by the Kanifing Magistrate’s Court in a civil case in January 2019, is on the run and the court has placed an reporting order on his door at home, source confirmed to The Voice.
According to sources Mr. Batchilly was dragged to the Kanifing Magistrate’s by one Maraima Joof last year in a civil case. Ms Joof a medical student in Dakar dragged the GAP leader to court over money amounting to CFA Franc 600.000 which Mr.Batchilly borrowed from her in Dakar, Senegal to payback within two weeks in 2018.
Sources said Mr. Batchilly also borrowed money from Ms Joof while in Mali and the money was used to buy the GAP leader ticket Bamako to Dakar with the promised that upon arrival he will add that amount to the CFA Franc 600.000 and pay Ms. Joof.
Sources further said all efforts to recover the money from Mr. Batchilly failed, resulting into a civil matter at the Kanifing Magistrate’s court.
Sources also said Batchilly agreed to pay the money and made an affidavit of undertaken to pay.
However, sources said with all undertaken by Mr. Batchilly he failed to pay and also refused to answer, revealing that the leader of the Gambia Action Party (GAP), Musa Yali Batchilly has run from his home and court has also placed notice of reporting to his door by court official.
