Central Rive Region Governor Abba Sayang and his deputy Omar Sey shunned United Democratic Party (UDP) presentation of One Hundred Thousand (D100,000) to flood victims within CRR, The Voice can report.
According to reliable sources, UDP delegation headed by party leader Ousainou Darboe travelled to Janjangbureh to present funds to the flood victims within CRR at governor office, but upon arrival the Governor Abba Sanyang and his deputy Omar Sey were out of office, despite notifying them about the presentation.
Sources said the UDP delegation was informed that Governor Sanyang travelled to Banjul, while deputy Governor was said to have travelled to Sambang CRR South to mediate land disputes.
According to sources following the shunned of Governor Abba Sayang and his deputy Omar Sey, the programme was moved from Governor Office to Youth Centre in Janjangbureh.
Sources revealed that the funds of One Hundred Thousand (D100, 000) was received on behalf of the victims at Youth Centre by Gambia National Disaster Management Agency officer Lamin Jammeh in Janjangbureh.
Janjangbureh Area Council, Chairman Ibrahim Janko Sanneh confirmed the absent of Governor Abba Sayang and his deputy Omar Sey at the presentation,
According to him, last week he informed Governor Sanyang and on Friday he follow-up the matter, but when he call to confirmed the time, the Governor told him that he was in Kombo.
The deputy Omar Sey governor also said he travelled to Sambang CRR South to mediate land disputes, Sanneh told The Voice.
The delegation later travelled to Kuntaur, where they were received by the chairman of the Area Council and similar presentation was made to victims.
