Hon. Momodou L. Sanneh, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly has assured that lawmakers will continue the partnership with Gambia Revenue Authority to strengthen better collaboration to ensure effective tax compliances.
“The Gambia is a tax base economy, and we cannot avert revenue collection and generation, therefore enlightening Lawmakers on key issues on the current development by Gambia Revenue Authority on tax management system is something that is gear toward attaining our development agenda as government,” he said.
Sanneh made the statement a daylong sensitation forum organised by GRA meant to enlighten the lawmakers on key issues on the current development by GRA, on tax management system.
He explained that tax and tax related matter are complicated and this issues cannot be address in an isolation without coming together, noting that inviting the National Assembly members to familiarise themselves with the issues which this seminar seek to address is indeed a welcome development.
“As a lawmakers, the forum will avert the members the opportunity to discuss on tax administration issues of doubt and seek for clarification with directly from GRA, official.
Hon. Sanneh urged all National Assembly members to participate actively on the issues regard to the seminar organized by GRA.
He pointed out that Gambia is a tax based economy, stressing that revenue generation ,and collection is paramount and financing development institution, lawmaker are very much concern with the welfare of their people ,in term of access to basic healthcare education , infrastructure noting that this cannot be achieve without the participation of all .
Sanneh commended GRA for engaging the lawmakers to have a better understanding of the tax laws and its related mandated as revenue Authority.
