NAMs impress with government ongoing projects

The National Assembly select committee on government monitoring project has expressed their satisfaction   on ongoing work of government projects of road and bridges currently on a construction in North Bank and Upper River Region respectively.

The committee which began their oversight tour on July 1, 2019 in Banjul, visited a 9.6km road rehabilitation of Kerewan-Njawara, finance by European Union.

The committee also visited the Senegambia Bridge which links Farafeni North Bank and Jarra Soma in Lower River Region also China-aid project of road and bridges in Basse Upper River Region.

Committee chair Hon. Sulayman Saho, member for Upper Badibou Constituency who led the tour to inspect the ongoing government road and bridges infrastructural development projects currently under way in the country noted that the committee is impressed and pleased with the way and progress of work on the ongoing project visited.

He said committee is on fact finding mission on the progress and challenges facing the ongoing work and also to do some advocacy for effective and timely completion of these projects.

He also said that the committee also wants to see there is value for the money of the ongoing project.

Hon. Saho further noted that the URR China- Aid projects if completed will foster the bilateral relationship between Gambia and China.

Hon. Saho also raised concerns over slow compensation scheme by the project for the affected victims as a result of the ongoing work.

He urged the official of the Ministry of Work, National Road Authorities and the consultant of the projects to fast track the compensation package for the victims to get compensation as soon as possible especially as  the rain session starting.
