Alasan Gent Ceesay,a Gambian-British businessman and philanthropist, has extended his generousness efforts aimed at supporting young African leaders.
Over 300 youth across Africa will meet in the The Gambia for the maiden Young African Leadership Awards, an initiative by African Youth Architects Network. The event will commence from 27th to 29th September, 2019.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Ceesay who served in the British Army and has received awards from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth of England for his contributions to his community disclosed that among the different categories will be a $1,000 visionary leadership award.
According to him, when the organisation reached out for support, he said it was indeed a massive chance for him to sponsor this prestigious award in order to encourage and support young dynamic visionary leaders, and outstanding change-makers across the continent.
“With over fifty years of independence, Africa continues to face serious challenges when it comes to visionary leadership.
Awards of such as this would inspire many potential leaders in Africa who can create a compelling vision for the future of the continent and to tackle deficits in governance, poverty reduction and maintain stability and economic growth throughout the continent, in addition to giving hope to our children”.
