The PUM Senior Expert to the just concluded Gambia Hotel Association training workshop for the chefs in the hospitality sector has affirmed that the trainees are naturally talented and friendly.
Johan Spape in a brief remarks at the closing ceremony of the Gambia Hotel Association kitchen management training for the chefs said “the people have natural talents for hospitality they are very friendly, open to tourists, willing to provide services for us to add a little bit more knowledge to their talents.”
The two-weeklong training workshop was organized by the Gambia Hotel Association (GHA) in collaboration with PUM. The training was attended by eighty chefs selected from different hotels and joined by some staff of the Gambia Tourism and Hospitality Institute. The trainees were trained by PUM expertise in different areas which include food and beverage, cost control, customer relations, sales and marketing and as well on travel life.
According to Johan Spape, Senior Expert Hospitality/Vocational Training the training programmes was developed by PUM in collaboration with the Gambia Hotel Association and it will run for about three to five years. He disclosed that the experts will be coming to The Gambia about every six weeks to train the trainees except during the high season.
Marion Niang expressed GHA’s satisfaction over the performance of the team of experts from PUM. She congratulated the trainees for able to complete the program and as well for their steadfastness throughout the period.
Madam Niang assured them of more and different training programmes will follow suite soon.
