United Nations Under-Secretary-General Amina Mohammed and UNFPA Executive Director, Dr. Natalia Kanem, are expected to visit The Gambia from 8 to 10 August 2019, accompanied by UNFPA West and Central Africa Regional Director, Mr. Mabingue Ngom.
According to UNFPA office in Banjul announce today Tuesday, the visit, is part of celebrations of 50 years of UNFPA’s existence, the 25th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) held in Cairo, Egypt, and will be an opportunity to galvanise support towards the Nairobi Summit on ICPD+25, to be held from 12 to 14 November, 2019 in Nairobi, Kenya, on the theme, Accelerating the promise.
The statement said, while in The Gambia, the Executive Director will meet with government authorities, UN agencies, technical partners, young people, as well as UNFPA staff.
