Mohammadou Musa Njie, Party Leader and Secretary of people’s Progressive Party (PPP), has pointed out that development should be useful and visible to ensure quality change, as he advised youth to understand what youth development means.
He made the statement at the Youth Power Network International (YPNI) in partnership with Global Youth Leaders International (GYLI) youth day 2019 on Saturday August 17 at Alliance Francaise on the theme ‘positioning youths as National Assets.’
Njie pointed out that development is the process that creates growth and progress in any country and The Gambia need a development that will improve quality living condition of the population and also create or expand local income and employment opportunities especially for the youth.
“Possible solutions, better planning, zoning competitive, advantage and prioritizing are the way forward for youth organization. If we don’t prioritize we will fail and youth development is entrenched in all government politics,” he said.
Landing L. Sidibeh Principal Assistant secretary Ministry of Youth and sport (MOYS) said that youth cannot be left behind when it comes to nation building and development.
“About 65% of our population comprises youths and they are the backbone of the country. The youths are very important and anybody who is a youth should proud,” he noted
He revealed that his ministry is working with other ministries to see how to help the youths, adding that MOSY is working with the ministries of Tourism, Agriculture, Finance and some international agencies to provide more job opportunities for youth.
“Every great Nation must birth a generation of young people, everyone present here is part of decision making. We are the architects, We are the foundation, and we are the one who will determine how this country will be in the next 10years,” Samuel Mendy YPNI Chief Executive Officer said.
“We need a generation of transformational leaders, because nothing progress without leaders. Be global, because this world is meant for global people. In order for us to be able to position ourselves as national assets, we must have Dreams, choose to be a successor, add value to others to be a transformational leader,” Mendy also motivational speech said.
