UDP Leader slams allegations against UDP as false

The party secretary general and leader of the United Democratic Party, Lawyer Ousainou Darboe has slammed critics’ allegations about the UDP on the 3 years jotna as ‘factious nonsense.’

When asked by Kerr Fatou online about his take on the allegations of critics’ that UDP is accused of being behind the 3 years Jotna, Mr. Darboe replied that: “That’s factious nonsense…nobody is going to rush us into making a pronouncement and I have said this that UDP will make a pronouncement and its position when we are ready, and we don’t care whose aux is God.”

He said Barrow contesting the 2021 presidential election was already an agenda which he said Barrow was pushing, adding that the Barrow youth movement was launched at Semega Janneh hall and that anyone who was an observer would know that something was cooking up.

He added: “You see the president then was going around various Mosque praying and all that was to gain our support and wherever they went secretly… meet the community leaders and I was being informed when he bought motorbike to give to our chairmen I would say clandestinely because he never informed us, all that I didn’t embold him he was on his way preparing for himself.”

 

When asked about his remark about the 3 years agreement in 2017, Darboe said: “I spoke what the law said and nothing more than that and, I didn’t say that he should…what I say was the use of force I said that is not right the use of force and that is a strong way that the Constitution allows for 5 years.”

 

He said he is totally against the use of force saying using force is absolutely unconstitutional and described using force a coup.

 

United Democratic Party is among the biggest political parties in the country and it was among the influential political parties that opposed against the 22-year rule of former president Yahya Jammeh.
