Gambian-British Businessman Roots for African Youth

Alasan Gent Ceesay, a Gambian-British businessman and philanthropist, has extended his magnanimity to efforts aimed at supporting young African leaders.

Over 300 youth across Africa will converge on the The Gambia for the maiden Young African Leadership Awards, an initiative by African Youth Architects Network. The event commences from 27th to 29th September, 2019.

Ceesay who served in the British Army and has received awards from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth of England for his contributions to his community said:  “Among the different categories will be a $1,000 Visionary Leadership Award. When the organisation reached out for support, it was indeed a massive chance for me to sponsor this prestigious award in order to encourage and support young dynamic visionary leaders, and outstanding change-makers across the continent.

With over fifty years of independence, Africa continues to face serious challenges when it comes to Visionary Leadership.

Awards such as this would inspire many potential leaders in Africa who can create a compelling vision for the future of the continent and to tackle deficits in governance, poverty reduction and maintain stability and economic growth throughout the continent, in addition to giving hope to our children”.
