Africell Launches E-Sim Card, Says It Will Continues To Set The Pace

The leading GSM Company in The Gambia, Africell has launched its newest product in the market dubbed E-SIM Card meant to abrogate the usage of the physical SIM Card by customers.

On Friday, the Company management vowed  to  continues to be the pace setters of GSM technology in the country as it launched the new E-SIM Card in The Gambia at its offices along the Kairaba Avenue.

“We here today to launch a product that is a first of its kind in the country dubbed the E-SIM Card.

This Electronic SIM Card will ease the carrying of physical SIM Card by our customers. This launching has presided over by our signing of a one hundred million dollars ($100m) micro-finance loan, launching of a satellite. This are all first of their kinds in the country and today we are here launching the first ever E-SIM Card in the country,” said Musa Sise, Head of Corporate Affairs and Media Consultant.

Sise said the one hundred million dollars micro-finance loan agreement signed by the company’s CEO is meant to help the company to venture into micro-finance market that will avail the company to grow, arguing that if Africell grows the country’s economy will grow as well.

The head of corporate affairs and media consultant, affirmed that Africell has always beat its competitors as far as the GSM business is concern, this he said, can be attested by the launching of the E-SIM Card.

He describe these recent developments as a landmark and first of their kind in the country, depicting that Africell is the number one GSM company in the country.

According to him, the new product will only be accessible to some users who are using certain marks of phone in the market, adding that it could also be accessible throughout the country for the teeming customers of the company. He said E-SIM Card is currently being used in very few countries including England, noting that it is the company’s aim to provide the best means of communication to its customers across the country.

“What we have seen in The Gambia is that the country is ready for the future because when we were launching the data we thought the country was not ready but in the contrary we leant that The Gambian people were miles ahead. The amount of data traffic we receive here is more than that of Sierra Leone and Uganda and this has a lot to say about a country we say is the smallest country in West Africa,” said Hussein Diab Ghanen, director of operations.

He said Africell will never under estimate the level of awareness of its customers and will continue to look into the future, adding that it will always try to be ahead of its competitors as proved by Gambians that they are more ready to walk towards the future than Africell.

“The E-SIM is something that will allow customers to no longer carry physical SIM Cards out of the country. This will also allow customers to program the use of more than six lines at a go without carrying physical SIM Cards. We are looking into the future and will never under estimate what technology harbors for us,” Diab Ghanen pointed out.

According to him, Africell will never relent in giving its customers the best of technologies, disclosing that the company will continue to innovate new products that their competitors cannot see in the market.

Muctarr Touray led the demonstration of how the new E-SIM Card can be used by customers at the headquarters of the company amidst fanfare and jubilation. He assured customers of the efficiency and user friendly of the new product, while allaying fears of cyber threats to the new E-SIM Card that is expected to catapult Gambia’s GSM services to another level.
