Coalition 2016 Vehicle: NRP Drags Deputy Party Leader to Police

The National Reconciliation Party (NRP)  on Tuesday  dragged deputy party leader Musa Sonko, to  the Police headquarter in Banjul demanding  that he surrender the Coalition 2016 vehicle that he is currently using.

The complaint was filed by NRP administrative secretary, Pa Bajinka  Touray who wrote   to the Police to impound the Coalition 2016 Pick-up from the deputy party leader.

Sonko confirmed that he was invited by the Police and he answered to the invitation to clear the air on how he received the vehicle from Coalition 2016.

He expressed his disappointment towards the manner in which the NRP administration secretary handled the matter, stressing that the vehicle does not belong to the party but rather Coalition 2016.

According to him, shortly after the collapse of the tactical alliance talk among political parties that constituted the Coalition 2016, he was instructed by NRP Party leader, Hamat Bah to return the vehicle but upon consultations with other Coalition 2016 stakeholders he realised that none of them returned the vehicle and was advised to use it.

He further said the vehicle is a donation to the Coalition 2016 and was   given to him base on his position as deputy chairperson of the Coalition, arguing that if there is anyone to take the vehicle from him, it should be Coalition 2016 but not the National Reconciliation Party (NRP).

Sonko also revealed that the latest move by the administrative secretary is part of efforts to frustrate him from   defending the truth and the interest of the masses.

“I am not moved by this action because it did not move me an inch. Am here to defend the truth and the interest of the masses,” he pointed out.

Sonko also revealed that his party (NPR) issued him a letter on Tuesday removing as representative of the party to Coalition 2019, revealing that Pa Bajinka, Awa Bah and Hamat Bah are new faces to represent the party at Coalition 2019.

Relationship between Sonko, party leader and senior party officials has been uncalled for following decision to back President Adama Barrow to lead party in 2021 presidential election.

When contacted, Pa Bajinka, administrative secretary National Reconciliation Party (NRP) referred this reporter to the Party’s Public Relations Officer, Pateh Baldeh. PRO Baldeh said he is not aware of the matter as he is on excuse duty.
