Gambia Banker Association will host its 4th Annual Banker Dinner on 26th October, 2019 at Paradise Suite Hotel.
The event is meant to bring together all the stakeholders in the banking sector, government, financial institutions and the public to interact informally and to be informed about the modest achievements of Gambia Bankers Association.
Alex Alasan Gomez, Chairman of local orgainisng committee event explained that Gambia Bankers Association was registered at attorney general chambers on February 22, 2002 through the collective efforts of the managing directors of all the commercial banks that were licensed to operate in The Gambia.
He further said the event is also aim at raising banking service delivery to international standard in The Gambia, noting that in doing so they decided to partner with Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria to organise training leading to the award of Chartered Bankers qualifications.
He pointed out that the memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and the Institute of Bankers of The Gambia which was signed in 2011 gave authority to the institute of Bankers of the Gambia to run Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria curriculum and serve as an external examination centre
Gomez, who double as Head of Marketing and Sales at Trust Bank Ltd added that in order to celebrate these modest achievements and to sensitize the public about the association and the institute, adding that the general public is invited to the event.
According to him, during the event deserving students who have successfully completed the associate chartered institute of bankers will be awarded certificates.
“Individuals and institutions who have made outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the association and the institute will be honoured with certificates for their meritorious services” he said.
