Imam Tafsir Gaye Hails Rawdatul Majaalis

By Lamin B. Darboe

Imam Tafsir Gaye of Banjul hailed Majmou Atu Rawdatul Majaalis for their efforts in trying to revive the Islamic teaching methods of our forefathers thus based on both the traditional and moral values of Islam.

Imam Gaye was addressing the members of the Majmou Atu Rawdatul Majaalis during their first-ever National Unity Conference (NUC) held over the weekend at Semega Janneh Memorial Hall housed at Serekunda East Football field compound.

The theme for the one-day conference was: “Put the Interest of Gambia First before Anything”.

According to Imam Gaye, any Islamic scholar whose intention is to demoralized our forefather’s way of worshiping in the country he will not be in support of that, noting that our forefather’s work in propagating and promoting Islam cannot be overemphasized.

He described the initiatives of the Rawdatul Majaalis as a worthy course which all Islamic scholars through-out the country must follow while promising the membership of the Rawdatul Majaalis that he is behind them forever.

“It was because of our forefather’s prayers for the country, we are enjoying peace and stability and if any Islamic scholar/s wants to down play the role of our forefathers in Islam, I will not be part of that group,” Imam Gaye informed Rawdatul Majaalis members.

Imam Tafsir Gaye appealed to Rawdatul Majaalis members to set-up well committed and dedicated regional committees for the organization who will sell the organization’s agendas to the Muslim Ummah within the four-corners of the country.

Imam Tafsir Gaye of Banjul finally urged other members of the Majmou Atu Rawdatul Majaalis organization to always give maximum respect to elders within the organization.

The one-day national conference was attended by the Majmou Atu Rawdatul Majaalis members across the country, Guinea Bissau and Senegal respectively.
