Maulana Daud Hanif Ghulam Sarwar, former Amir of Ahmadiyaa Muslim Jama’at The Gambia has provided a borehole to two communities in the Lower Baddibou District worth over three hundred thousand dalasis recently.
The communities that benefit the gesture are Chogain and Sare Jam Ghidou in Lower Baddibou District of North Bank Region of The Gambia.
Speaking at the handling over ceremony, the Alkali of Chogain Mr Ebou Ndow, commended the donor for his timely intervention towards his village.
According to him, the village has only one hand pump which requires frequent maintenance in many occasions. The women he continued, recent travels for more than 3 kilometers daily to access clean drinking water
“Now by the grace of Allah and with the intervention of Daud Hanif we were able to access clean and safe drinking water within our doorsteps,” he said.
He therefore prayed for the philanthropist and his family and called on every member of the community to do the same
Ustaz Muhammad Sinayoko on behalf of the current Amir Baba F Trawally the need for a safe and clean drinking water not only for our health but for purifies spiritual life too.
He commended the donor for coming into the aid of the communities that are in need of water.
In presenting the borehole to the community, the project coordinator Mr Kawsu Kinteh who also doubles as Chairman of a charitable organization called Humanity First urges the villagers to take ownership of the borehole as they are the direct beneficiaries.
The project he said is financed by Maulana Daud Hanif and family and is worth over D300, 000.
Similar sentiments are expressed by the Alkali and Imam of Share Jam Ghidou. Both prayed for the donor and his family. The donor Maulana was one time Amir of the Gambia and is now living in the United Stated with his family.
