 ‘We are here to introduce New GSIC President’ Says Rawdatul Majaalis P.R.O

The Public Relation Officer (PRO) at Majmouatu Rawdatul Majaalis (MRM) informed the Islamic communities within Central and Upper River Regions that they are out to introduce the country’s new President of The Gambia Supreme Islamic Council (SIC).

Abubacarr Jabbie made this revelation on Sunday during the meetings held Janjangbureh and Kaba Kama in the CRR and URR on Sunday and Monday respectively.

“Sheriff Nano was selected by the Muslim elders in the country who endorsed him as the new current President of the council and it was the same elders under the leadership of Ba Yusupha Darboe who selected Imam Momodou Lamin Touray some years ago to be in that position and he (Imam Touray) went unopposed,” Jabbie informed CRR and URR Muslim communities.

These Muslim elders he went on are:  Caliph General of Njama Darboe Foundation Alhaji Ba Yusupha Darboe, Caliph General Pirang Alhaji Seedy Muctarr Jabbie, Caliph General Busura Alhaji Baba Faye, Caliph General Siffoe Momodou Kanteh and Imam Ratib of Sukuta Alhaji Ismaila Baye.

Alhaji Kemo Jabbie of Barajali urged MRM members to should serve as the mouthpiece of the country that would be based on the national interest adding that as Muslims we should always work towards the interest of your fellow Muslims and in humanity in general.

“For us Muslims in the provincial Gambia, if we see any Islamic scholar/s serving as the mouth piece of our politicians based on their (politicians) own interest we are always afraid of you,” Jabbie explained.

Rawdatul Majaalis regional coordinator for Upper River Region, Ebrima Jabbie informed members that URR is not strangers to Rawdatul Majaalis, noting that the Islamic scholars who were on tour signify that they can lead Gambian Muslims into good path.

Alhaji Mbemba Sillah, the Caliph General of Kaba Kama assured of his majlis sect continues support to them, as they were formed to empower majlis sects programs and activities.

Kabiro Samura deputy, Mufti Rawdatul Majaalis explained that the organization is apolitical adding; it was formed to promote and propagate Islamic religion in and outside the jurisdiction of the country.

He called on Gambians to see the organization as an Islamic organization for all Muslims while also explained that they formed the organization to follow the footsteps of our forefathers.

Speakers like the Imam of Janjangbureh, Hamidou Dem, Imam of Murtabe Ebrima Nyang, Cherno Essa Sowe of Kaba Kama and Mustapha Sillah from Madiana all promised to give their support to MRM.
