Mr. Edi Mass Jobe, The president of Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has successfully participated on the recent concluded Russia Africa 2019 Summit in Sochi.
The conference was held from the 23rd to 25th October and the GCCI president attended the conference on behalf of the private sector of the Gambia. Thanks to the courtesy of President Adama Barrow and the ministry of finance for extending an invitation to GCCI. Mr. Jobe noted.
The GCCI president is one of the top list Gambian business men who brought a lot of investors into this country and his name will continue to linger in the history book of this country. His present at the Russia Africa conference summit was no small measure to the development of the Gambia.
In sharing hi s learning experience during the Russia Africa summit , Mr. Jobe said the main objective of the summit was summarized in the forum Slogan; Russia Africa Unleashing capacity for cooperation.
According to him, the forum started with the presentation entitled sustaining the vision of the African Independence fighters with pictures some of greatest leaders Mandela, NASSARER ,LUMUMBA and Nyere.
He said in this presentation and the accompanied speech given by president VLADIMIRA Putin, the gathering of African leaders were reminded that this Russian engagement is built on the foundation of partnership forged during the fight against colonialism.
He also cited that they were reminded that MOSCOW, hosts the must international university in the world, the Patrick Lumumba University celebrating a truth leader deposed by the West.
“The University together with other institution in the Russian federation have trained/educated over 500,000 Africans,”
He noted that RUSSIAN first intervention in Africans was ideological and cultural and these basis are the foundation for long term relationship.
He explained that the summit a new scramble for Africa is burn but this time with African at the table.
He pointed out that in SOCHI, this week Russia propose the following partnership( not exhaustive) tax revenue sustainability using big data and the digital , economic, Russian Banks with AI and digital cash and ability, Nuclear turnkey power project , transportation and Railways technologies, Agricultural mechanization , fertilizers products just to name a few.
Mr. Jobe revealed that the ministry of Trade and foreign Affairs , UNDP,ECOWAS to meet with counterpart in Senegal and develop a common approach to the Russian, Chinese Japanese and ACFTA before the end of 2019.
He stated that the greatest learning of all is that societies companies and individuals require disciplined approaches to the subject of development by vigorous application of measurement processes, procedures and result delivery.
He said GCCI should lead the private sector in formalization and focusing on result delivery.
