Land Minister Slams Remarks of Sandu NAM as ‘a Big Lie’

Minister of lands and local government has slammed remarks of national assembly member for Sandu constituency as ‘a big lie and misleading.’

Hon. Muhammed Mahanera was nowhere to be spotted at a meeting presided over by President Barrow in Sandu Darsilami as Barrow continued his nationwide tour.

Musa Drammeh who spoke at the meeting said: “I heard him say in an audio that the Office of the President did not write to inform him about their propose meeting to be held in his constituency and secondly, he was engaged with national assembly matters that wouldn’t allow him to attend. For the National Assembly matters, one can understand but that a letter wasn’t written to him is not true, he lied about that

He added: “Office of the President wrote to the speaker for onward delivery to the NAMS in the house and later it was confirmed that all the members in parliament were notified of the President’s tour, if he comes to the meeting fine but if he fails to come then that doesn’t change anything to the Presidency as all the sons and daughters of Sandu are in attendance to support the president’s agenda.”

He assured the lawmaker that President Adama Barrow will not lost the seat of Sandu in the upcoming National Assembly elections in 2022 adding “even if President Barrow lacks a candidate in the area he will personally offer himself to run against Hon. Muhammad Mahanera. “

“I want to make it very clear to him that come the next Parliamentary Elections in 2022, Barrow won’t lose the seat in Sandu. If Barrow doesn’t have a candidate in the next parliamentary elections in Sandu, then I will personally offer myself to lead the district in the polls come 2022,” he added.

According to him, the United Democratic Party (UDP) never campaigned for Hon. Mahanera to get to the National Assembly but ‘people of Sandu campaigned and voted for him, warning that the people who campaign and voted for Hon. Mahanera to win the Sandu seat at the National Assembly can still campaign and vote him out of the assembly.

Mr Drammeh, who was a lawmaker, praised himself of not having had lost elections in Sandu and warning ‘if Hon. Mahanera fails to support the President’s agenda,  he will personally lead the campaign to vote him out of the National Assembly in 2022 legislative elections.’
