The Chief Executive Officer of Vision Development Foundation, Momodou Turo Darboe today donated over D300,000 worth of valuable items to various security apparatus and institutions as part of his contribution to the socio-economic development of the country.
Presenting the items at the Foundation headquarters in Banjul which comprised of air conditioners, cheques and cash, the public relation officer, Saikou Fofana said the donation is part of the foundation vision to help the under-privilege communities towards national development.
According to Mr Fofana, it is part of the VDF promise to donate every three months to communities, institutions and individual, noting that the foundation will continue to play its part towards the socio-economic advancement of the nation.
Lamin Fatajo is the chairperson of the foundation and described the event as “a culture” for the foundation that is always ready to render support to communities, institutions and individual as part of its contribution to nation building.
Recipients of the donated items also spoke highly of the foundation and appealed to other organization to emulate the kind gesture.
The beneficiaries are, Gambia Police Force, Immigration Department, Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Gambia Ports Authority, Gambia National Army, Cancer Association of The Gambia as well as school and individuals.
Vision Development Foundation is a civil society organization and a non-governmental organization with the main aim of alleviating the needs of the poor and needy. This main aim is achieved via a number of varied activities such as creating and maintaining savings and credit schemes that give access to small loans, building health facilities, skills training for women and youth groups to increase their opportunities at self-employment and self-sufficiency.
