5years movement urges UDP to reject its position on 3years agreement

5years movement has urged United Democratic Party to abandon its position on 3years agreement to allow peace to prevail.

The movement, advocating for five years Constitutional mandate for President Adama Barrow made the advice on Monday following days after UDP called on President at a news conference honour coalition‘s gentleman agreement which asked Barrow to step down in December.

Speaking at a press conference at Serekunda East mini stadium, Ebrima Sorrie Bah, Secretary of Gambia for 5years said: “We called on them (UDP) to come forward and denounce their position and go back to their early acquisition when the party leader said that anybody who tried to force the president to step down for three years will be suit to court by himself.

He further said if the party is distancing itself from that declaration for them the party leader, the secretary general and the party are one and he cannot represent anything order than the will of the party and the party cannot represent anything order than the will of Lawyer Ousainou Darboe.

He added that there was no political party in support of the 3year but so surprised that the UDP party under the leadership of Ousainou Darboe said they are in support of the 3year term and condition.

He called on UDP to denounce their position for the sake of peace and stability of this country and also called on the Gambians to stay away from this 3year jotna.

Naffie Sonko the president of Gambia for 5years said we called on this press conference to saw their position as the Gambia for five years and peace building.

“if you see Gambia for 5year are here is because we want peace” She said.  She said the reason why women are leading this organisation is because they want to stop violence before it arises and they want to set a good example in Africa.

She said that Ousainou Darboe is seeking his own personnel interest and his personal interest does not favour the Gambian what favour the Gambian is peace and stability. Let us wait for the election and who ever win can be our president. She noted.

Amadou Bah from Barrow youth movement also said the president have the right to resign before the five years in the constitution yes but there are term and condition but if there is no term and condition the president should not resign.

He further gave an example that in the constitution when the president is sick or have a mental illness can resign but the term and condition of the coalition because we are all under the constitution not above the constitution.

He noted that this 3years movement has affect the tourism sector because of their will be no flite in December.
