CC trains Journalists on Reporting Draft Constitution

The Constitutional Review Commission (CRC) on 14th November, 2019 has trained journalist on reporting the new draft Constitution on a nation-wide tour coming.

The aim of the training is to equip and orient journalist about the new draft and also any change in the draft constitution to be well inform to the general public accurately.

The CRC are about to embark on Nation-wide tour to sensitize people about the new draft of the constitution after their first nation-wide tour seeing the view point of the people about what they want to see in the new draft book of the constitution in 2017.

Speaking at the event Cherno Jallow, chairperson of CRC said this is the first draft and is about to sensitize people about what we have been doing so far.

He pointed out that there will be another consultation after this one ahead coming as a commission the people should see the draft before it’s been finalize.

He further explain that the constitution review is not an issue for 11 commissioners but a national issue  they  have been able to look in Constitution of quite number of countries globally.

“It’s been exciting journey for us where we feel self educated about our little knowledge that we are in position to develop a constitution that the Gambian themselves can look an express the opinion before we finalize the draft constitution,” he explain

He noted that as CRC what is important to them is to look the best interest of the people in the country and the future generation as the first draft will be release tomorrow on Friday, soft and hard copy will be available.

“We expect people to read and understand but not to misunderstand it as consultation will be coming ahead after this one,” Justice Jallow said.
