Farafenni General Hospital has commended Trust Bank Limited for improving health care service to Trust Bank Adopted Maternity Ward for 18 years of consistent and increasing support.
The bank represents sanitary and detergent to hospital at a ceremony held at hospital ground in Farafenni in the North Bank Region.
Wandifa Samateh Chief Executive Officer of Farafenni General Hospital underscored strong partnership that exists between the hospital and Trust Bank in strengthening health care service delivery at the adopted Maternity Ward.
He said investing in maternity care is one of the greatest humanitarian undertaken for generation as accorded to maternal and new born care.
He noted that Ministry of Health through the Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) program introduced a robust mechanism of systematic recording and reporting of all maternal deaths in the country 24 hours in a bid and also to do an audit review to establish the causes and map out strategies to prevent avoidable deaths.
Commenting on maternal death, CEO Samateh revealed that the hospital has recorded 4 deaths in the first two quarters, zero death in the third and 1 death in the fourth quarter giving a cumulative figure of 5 so far opposed to 12 in 2018.
According to him, the hospital continues to provide 100% skilled delivery since 2018 despite intermittent shortages of midwives emanating from staff turnover.
Ebrima KS Dampha, Governor of North Bank Region noted that support by over the years has resulted to availability of diagnostic tools, equipment, supplies and solar installation to ensure 24hours power supply at the maternity ward.
According to him, the support has improved quality maternal and neonatal services and by extension provide conducive work environment and improve service delivery.
He said the adoption of ward by Gambian own bank is a right decision, given the fact that life begin at delivery room, maternity care is one of the most important health care needs worth investing.
Dampha, who double vice chairman of Farafenni General Hospital Board of Directors, commended Trust Bank Limited for their invaluable support to the hospital, noting that it demonstrated the bank commitment to fulfilment o their Social Cooperate Responsibility of giving back to the community through massive investment to health sector over the years.
Ibrahim Sallah Managing Director of Trust Bank Limited said the bank recognized the stronger ties with Farafenni General Hospital, noting that health population can contribute to social economic development.
He said base on commitment on share value that bonds the two institutions in promoting quality health care.
Abdoulie Jarju Acting Director of Farafenni Health Region noted that Ministry of Health has recognised the enormous contribution provided by Trust Bank to health sector across the country. The support would contribute to the attainment of Universal Health Coverage by 2025 and calls on other banks and financial institutions to follow suit.
He said the detergent and sanitary materials would control infections and improve the health of orderly at the maternity ward.
