The Peace Gambia on the Saturday called on President Adama Barrow and executive members of the 3years Jotna to engage in a peaceful dialogue, noting that dialogue is the ultimate solution for mankind
The Brikama based non-political and non-governmental organization promoting sustainable Peace and Justice in the Gambia made the statement at press conference at West Filed youth-monument.
Lalo Bajo the Executive Director Peace Gambia expressed growing concerns as ordinary Gambians continue to live in fear and in complete darkness over what the December protest will give birth to, noting it is 14 days to December
“We want to calls on the President and the executive of the 3years Jotna to engage in peaceful dialogue with a view to settle their conflicting interests. We also draw their attention to the words rooted in the third paragraph of the national pledge of the Gambia which said; if we insist on pursuing our personal goal without keeping our collective objectives and responsibilities in mind, and then indeed we shall fall,” he noted.
“The innocent women sitting by the road side selling, those doing gardening and the children going to school are we going to ignore their cries and be silent till December, again we call for Dialogue Substituting Violence”, he stated.
He added: We have established the truth commission to dig the past, therefore it’s our obligation that we settle the situation now before December will be in the past and we say no to silence therefore we calls for action from both sides.”
According to him, The Gambia was handed to the current generation by their ancestor in peace that everyone is enjoying today, adding that mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers cannot become refugees as there is only one place for the Gambians and certainly that place is Gambia.
Bajo recalled the Faraba incident which claims the lives of innocent citizens, Brikama protest that led to the jailing of youths and Serekunda market vendors and destruction at the Police Anti-Crime boss home.
He also called on religious leader’s civil society organisations and community leaders to intervene in facilitating dialogue between the two President and the activists
