Imam of Jamburr village has explained how some weird men ransacked his compound on the orders of former President Yahya Jammeh in 2009 and accused of planning evil against Jammeh’s regime.
In 2009, former President Yahya Jammeh launched a so-called campaign by hiring band weird men with gun men with AK47 and targeting the poor, public offices and farming communities. Dozens of people were victimized as they were forced to drink concoction.
Imam Omar Bojang who was before Truth Reconciliation and Reparations Commission on Monday said: “As I prepared the lunch for my guests I saw people brimmed in my home some were in red weird dress, they were having mirrors, cowries and horns. They went to my house and ransacked they said they are looking for something and they went to my local bathroom and removed something and accused me of planning evil against Jammeh’s regime.”
He said him and his guests who came to pay condolences to his late mother were all taken and victimized saying “tday my mother passed away and some people from Cassamance came where I was educated –two individual came from Cassamance and one came from Kartong.”
The 58-year-old man added: “theAlkalo said he brought people from Cassamance to plan evil against the government of Yahya Jammeh and they dug a hole in the cemetery and slaughtered a red cock and red goat and poured the blood and said if anyone wants to betray Yahya Jammeh you will be coursed>
He described his victimization because he didn’t support Yahya Jammeh adding “I heard a man calling my name and insulting me and I heard the insulting voice coming towards my home, and I ordered the people to leave. He came up to my house and he entered my home holding a knife and I took a stick and hit him on his hand holding the knife and his hand broke twice.”
I am not a politician, I am a farmer but I never supported Yahya Jammeh and I thought because I didn’t support Yahya Jammeh the green boys beat, because at that time anybody who didn’t support Yahya Jammeh you are in trouble, he added.
