Buzz Gambia Inaugurated Anchor Women day which is known as “Dimbaa Nyimaa” on Wednesday at Welingara, Brikama West Coast Region.
Buzz Gambia is an NGO that aim to provide leadership and entrepreneurship training to Gambian women and also to provide the leadership role of guidance for the women to realize their set economic goals after the training.
The training provides a platform for the trained women to identify local women leaders referred to as Anchor Women (Dimbaa Nyimaa).
Speaking at the event, Dave Jongeneelen the co-founder of the Buzz Gambia said, it is their ambition to train every Gambia women to drive the development process into the hands of women.
“This is an idea that was develop in the Gambia ten years ago and we are proud that the Buzz Gambia trained 3000 women in the Gambia compare to other counties’’, he said.
However, after knowing their capabilities as women, he called on the leaders of the business communities and company to join hands to make different in the Gambia.
“ If we can train every Gambian women on how to take care of their own money, save and also invest money i think that will be better for business as well’’, he noted.
Ousman Cham, Chairperson of the Advisory Board said, Today is Anchor Women day, because is a day were they will discuss about their development and achievement.
“This development is focus on women because they are doing so many things and also responsible in various aspect and I hope you will do everything it takes to see this organization develop ‘’, he said.
He further explained that, the approach of the BUZZ is to bring in resources which are more about knowledge and skill that will bring development but not money and also act as catalyst to build link among people, organization that can provide the resources that they need.
Haddy Nyang, from the Gambia Women Chamber for Commerce, expresses her gratitude on how Buzz Gambia impacts her life in business, adding that: “The train comes at the right time as it helped women to be self independent”.
She pointed out that, this training helped them a lot as women because they were able to manage it as well.
Amie Touray business women in Gunjur said, said she has been doing business for about 10 years.
“But I invest my money anyhow but since I started this training I have the idea on how to use my money and I don’t have any problem on financial management.
She said after going through the training she was able to extent her business, having a poultry farm and ruminant animal and she also called on the organization to extend these training to other women as well.
