The Belgian Friends of The Gambia (BFoTG) on Wednesday presented brand new Mobile ODT Cervical cancer test machine worth over D300, 000 to new Yundum Health Center, brand new computer systems, 3 medical metal cupboards and some medicaments.
The organizationon the same day, presented some educational items to new Yundum Lower Basic School in region two like 5 desktops, 15 monitors, 7 cartridges, 10 bags of fertilizer, seedlings and garden tools.
As part of their distribution of educational, health, garden tools to their sponsors institutions and students within West Coast Region and Kanfiing Municipality, BFoTG distributed 25 bags of rice to their sponsors’students of 31 at Bakoteh Upper Basic School.
They also distributed 22 bags of rice to 25 of their sponsors’ students at Bakoteh Proper Lower Basic School while they gave out 320 bags of rice to their sponsors’ students of 35.
Speaking at the various handing over ceremonies for said items, Christa de Vos the treasurer of the BFoTG gave strong advised to the beneficiary institutions and students that they should be serious in their education.
“Let me advised all of you (school administration, students and our sponsors students), make the best use of the items and also you (the students) make your books as your closet friends at all times,” Mrs. Vos advised.
Mrs. Vos appealed to their sponsors’ students in the schools mentioned above through the schools administration to write (Thank You Letter) to their sponsorfriends back home in Belgium.
The Officer-In-Charge (O.I.C) at new Yundum Health Center, Madam Adama Jorbateh described BFoTG as her institution’s true friends for the past years adding; our Belgian friend’sefforts cannot go un-noticed by her ministry, Health Center catchment communities among others.
The Principal of Bakoteh Upper Basic School and Head-teachers of both Bakoteh Proper and Annex Lower Basic Schools expressed their special appreciation to their Belgian friends for the kind gesture.
The promised to continue building true friendship based on trust, mutual understanding and openness with their Belgian friends for the betterment of the future leaders of this country.
