Opinions in Kerewan north bank region’s administrative town have recommended 65 years to be reversed as age limit for president in order to avoid gap in leadership position.

The provision of presidential age limit was scrapped in 2017 few months after assumption of power of President Adama Barrow through vote by National Assembly.

Bubacarr I Bah who spoke during CRC second round public consultation meeting in Kerewan, suggested for reversing the law in the draft constitution saying: “I think president age limit should be 65 because when you reach 65-year your commitment will be limited physically and mentally.”

However, Ousainou Saine suggestion deferred from the above suggestion as he called for “increase of the presidential age limit to 75 years.”

Mr Saine also recommended age qualification for presidency saying they “should increase the age of aspiring candidate for presidency position to 40 years because at 40 one’s age stands to be fully matured.”

Lamin Kanteh also suggested 65 as age limit for presidency, and 40 years as age qualification.
