Top official of operation three years movement has described police Saturday action on the movement as foul play to fundamental human rights.
On Saturday, police barred the pressure group from organising a fundraising program at Semega Janneh hall at Buffa Zone, requesting them to seek a permit.
In an exclusive interview on Tuesday, Sherriffo Sonko told The Voice: “It is a foul play one could say because we were never told about this before and some of our executives have organised programs in the same place before and they never sought a permit from the Police.”
“So, if we have to do our program in the same place and they request us to have a permit…it would say it was a foul play,” he added.
He said even without organising a fundraising program that the movement would garner resources ahead of their planned protest on 19 January, 2020.
Meanwhile, he said his movement would not relent in demanding President Barrow to step down until he accepts to step down, adding “if the Barrow-led government truly believes in their call of being a democratic government that they shouldn’t be violating the rights of its citizens.”
According to him, the issue between three years movement and President Barrow is not a battle adding “because he is the one who said that he will step down after three years, no one spoon-fed him to say that.”
Mr Sonko described Barrow forming a political party as a “a big insult to democracy” adding they might organise another fundraising program before 19 January.
