The secretary general of peacebuilding has said operation three years pressure group would be rebels if they insist to oust President Adama Barrow in power.

Abdoulie Mendy, who spoke at a news conference on Wednesday said: “the 3years Jotna would be rebels if they forcefully want to [oust]bring down the government on 19 January [that] would not be a protest but a rebellion against the government.”

We will not allow any force either internal or external to destabilize the country in the name of an agreement, he added.

He urged members of the pressure group to respect the constitution of the country, adding the president was sworn-in to rule for five year.

However, he said his group would join in pro-government’s solidarity march saying “the petition we would deliver, is to remind Gambians at large that the president is elected for five years not for three years.”

Ebrima Soriba Sectary for Gambia for five years urged: “it is up to the police to give them the permit to overthrow the president as they will not interfere but they have their ways of doing things.”

“Certainly, we are not coming out to counter them on the 19th as the country belong to all of us it did not belong to 3years jotna”, he said.

He said they are too matured to hold argument with opposition three years group, adding that “it is our responsibility as Gambia for five years and peace building to defend the constitution, peace and stability of this country to the ladder.”
