School going boys and girls joined their teachers to repair hundreds of school furniture including chairs and tables aimed to addressing shortage of seating chairs and tables at schools.
The furniture was handed over by the Regional Education Directorate in partnership with Technical and Vocational Education unit at Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Fabala Sighateh acting director of regional education directorate for region 3 underscored the important Ministry of basic and secondary education.
“The repair of broken furniture would help to reduce double shifts in schools,” he said.
Mbai Ndure, head of TVET lauded the Ministry for the creation of TVET in 2015 to help promote vocational and technical education in schools.
He noted that objective is help student learn TVET education from grade 4 to 9 and whilst specialized in areas of interest. He disclosed that a total of 749 furniture and tables were repair to supply to 13 schools in Upper and Lower Badibou schools.
Malamin IL Bojang chairman of Kerewan Area Council said the repair of furniture will reduce shortage at school levels. Momodou G Jallow Principal Education Officer noted that Ministry would contribute to strengthen TVET Education and call on student to be versatile and take up skill development.
Abdlie Gaye, a principal and Ebrima Konateh, a head boy of Kerewan Basic Cycle School both described works as unique, adding it help student to build interest in technical and vocational education.
