Two Dutch nationals from Netherlands who are in the country courtesy of “Mama Anna Foundation” (MAF) are currently undertaking a two week voluntary work with the community of Manduar village in Brikama South, West Coast Region.
Speaking to our reporter, both the Board Chairman of the foundation and a member, Dominic Mendy and Bakary K. Njie said the two Dutch nationals came to the country to do voluntary work with the community of Manduar.
“The two Dutch nationals undertook tree planting exercise within the premises of Manduar Clinic where they so far planted ten (10) orange trees and two (2) guava trees,” Mendy and Njie informed our reporter.
As part of their voluntary work in the village the duo explained, Dutch nationals, Ms. Ingrid Tromp and Aliette Woertink are engaging handicaps in Manduar community with the painting of the village School blackboards, conducted class lessons, coloring, craftsmanship, games, cleansing exercise within the community Clinic campus.
According to Mendy and Njie, Manduar community also organizes a special cultural jamburi for the visiting Dutch nationals in the village in honor of their voluntary work in the community.
They revealed that at the end of their two weeks voluntary work, “Mama Anna Foundation” will on Saturday awards the two Dutch national volunteers with “Certificate of Appreciation” for their two weeks voluntary work in the village.
For their part, Ms. Ingrid Tromp and Aliette Woertink applauded Manduar community for the warm-welcomed they accorded to them especially by exposing them to their culture.
Ms. Tromp and Woertink thanked both Dominic Mendy and Bakary K. Njie for their steadfastness in having the interest of their community at heart and they described their voluntary work in Manduar as humanitarian services.
“We are acquainted with the culture of Gambians and the friendly people of Manduar community especially fetching water into the buckets from the well and carry it on our heads to the house,” Ms. Tromp and Woertink explained.
