GRA assures commitment to improving staff working conditions

The Gambia Revenue Authority has assured commitment to improving the working and housing conditions of its staff after contracting GAMWORKS to build two story-building meant for official space and residential space for its staff.

Speaking at signing ceremony, GRA commissioner general Yankuba Darboe said his office will continue to expand in-terms of infrastructural development for working conditions and residential housing for the staff of the Authority, adding his staff will always be a priority to enhance effective and efficient service delivery for national development.

He expressed gratitude and appreciation to GAMWORKS for the construction of convenient office space and residential housing. He also expressed appreciation for contracting GAMWORK with the for the construction of a two story-building meant for office space and residential for its staff.

“This is yet another development in the history calendar of GRA because as institutions we want to grow. We are expanding and we need to provide convenient quarters for our staff for effective service delivery and good and healthy environment,” he said.

This is what prompted GRA management to identify one of the old buildings of GRA for re-construction of s office space and residential for his staff and this idea was supported by the Board of directors and the staff to ensure effective and convenient working conditions. The new building will be for some of the staff, he said.

According to him, the paper work regarding documentation usually takes a long process but GAMWORKS has completed the documentation and will supervise the construction of the building, adding the period given is normally eleven months and we hope in the next couple of months we shall inaugurate this building.

He added: “GRA will not only stop there as we have a five-year plan where we intend to construct office spaces and also residential for staff in all regions across the country. Amongst our plans GRA will be moving to West Coast Region, where we have an office and intend to expand across the country.”

“As part of our management plans, we need to provide very good office spaces as well as good residential areas particularly for the staff in the provincial areas. We will do everything humanly possible to expand over offices for our staff,” he said.

He also commended the GAMWORK for their job well done, this is at the level of GRA we are recommending and make recruitment on behalf of GRA and supervise all our buildings which in the pass they have been doing.

Deputy commissioner general and head of domestic tax  at GRA Essa Jallow  also expressed similar sentiment saying that this project is part is gar towards improving their infrastructural development.

“This is a five years project and there are many others projects that are in the offing but we cannot do all it one because these are capital intensive projects. The money requires cannot be raised in one year we are looking forward to the successful implementation of this project in the next 11 months to come. He also commended the GAMWORK for their excellent work done for the past years,” he said.

He said GAMWORK has been a longstanding relationship with the GRA due to their reputable institution that has the expertise to deliver up to expectation.
