Chairman, Public Service Commission (PSC) highlighted that both the “Information Officers” and “Cadet Administrative Officers” are cohort to Government ministries and others.
Mr. Momodou Lamin Samateh who was the first Gambian to serve as the Chairman, PSC made a power point presentation on Monday at MDI during the commencement of a two week intensive induction training course for 25 new “Information Officers” and “Cadet Administrative Officers” who are just entering into the Civil Service.
The topic for the course is: “Roles and Functions of PSC” and the two week training is organized by PMO in collaboration with MDI.
He reminded “Information and Cadet Administrative Officers” that as new Entrants into Civil Service, they should know how Government works, stating that as new comers in the Civil Service, they will come to know more about different machineries with Gov’t.
PSC boss said: “We will continue to instill public employees to embrace attitudinal changes, innovation, discipline and performance oriented management practices through the enforcement of Code of Conduct among others.”
Each time we recruited new entrants into Civil Service he explained, we do organize induction training for them on how Government machineries work and he outline the purpose of the training which is for the new Entrants to understand the functions and roles of the PSC.”
He cited that working for Government is not a right but a privilege, while stated that the new “Information and Cadet Administrative Officers” were appointed by PMO because they (PSC) knew they can do the job.
He urged the new Entrants to be honest, hardworking and serve as good Civil Servants and said both PSC and PMO have cordial working relationship which is gear towards making Civil Servants perform to the expectation of the public.
The Permanent Secretary (PS) at the PMO, Lamin Jawara who presided over the official opening of the training highlighted the aims of the training which he said is for the new Entrants to familiarize themselves with the administrative framework and service roles of the Civil Service in preparation for an effective and efficient performance of their duties.
