The community Maria and Sambanyado cluster Village Development Committee of Central Baddibou on Monday launched Quality, Sustainable and Education Program Scheme and donation of educational materials and school badges to Maria Lower Basic School of central Baddibou north bank region.
The move aims to boost education and encourage parents to keep their children and promote retention in school. The idea was conceived by youths within and outside the country to support educational development for their brothers and sisters. The donated materials include exercise books, pencils, school badges among others.
Foday Camara Deputy Head Teacher of Maria Lower Basic School thanks the VDC and donor for their support to the school. The gesture according to Deputy Head Teacher noted that it will help to enhance teaching and learning and the materials will help you support vulnerable children. The school is eight years old and are faced with challenges, citing lack of school feeding program and fencing of school.
Momodou Dumbiya VDC chairman hailed the people for their support and call on MoBSE to upgrade the school to Basic Cycle school. He calls on parents to be responsive to the education of children.
In his launching statement Malang KK Bojang Guest Speaker dilated on the significance of retention of children to complete their educational pursue, as it will contribute to enhance human resource development and contribute to poverty reduction.
He commended the community for their foresight and commitment to the educational development of children. He noted that retention in schools is important as it allow students to exploit their potential. Bojang call on the student to take up the opportunities provided government and noted that it will contribute to socioeconomic development of the people.
Lang Kinteh Njaba Cluster Monitor for Njaba Kunda Cluster has underscored government commitment in providing education for all and renewed their commitment to provide quality learning and teaching.
He uses the moment to call on. parents to enrol their children and ensure they complete their education.
He said all efforts are in place to provide quality teaching and learning and reiterated the need for concerted efforts to address drop out in schools.
Ebrima Bah a former teacher and coordinator said the objective is to address school dropout and empower community to value the education of children. Mr Bah reiterated as a former teacher at the school, it is imperative to support the educational of youths at grassroots levels. He thanks the youths in the diaspora and VDC for mobilizing over D9, 000 to provide learning materials.
Saikna Sowe and Sulayman Sowe alkalolu of Maria and Samba Nyado both lauded the move and assure of communities support. Whilst Sira Keita and Momodou Jallow member of School Management Committee calls for massive enrolment of children and completion of education. The community members renewed their commassured of their support and cooperation
