The Chairman of Board of Directors of Food Safety and Quality Authority (FSQA) has resigned from his position, reliable sources disclosed to the Voice.
Badara Loum a season agriculturalist and former permanent secretary to the ministry of agriculture was appointed on the 30th July, 2019, as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Food Safety Authority until Friday, 7th February, 2020, when he tendered his resignation.
The Food Safety and Quality Authority has been entangled in a dispute between the director general and staff of the institution, leading to the dismissal of eight staff and suspension of more than twenty staff last month.
“I can confirm that I have resigned and this is due to the management style implore at the authority as well as differences in opinion with the director general of the authority. This is the reason why I resigned and I don’t want to say much and I guess we leave it like this for now, when I will be able to give you more information relating to my resignation,” Badara Loum, Chairman Board of Directors of Food Safety and Quality Authority (FSQA) of The Gambia.
He added: “Partly I can say yes my resignation also has to do with the sacking and suspension of staff of the institution but beyond this I would like to stop here for now.”
Mr Loum’s resignation is widely believe to create more troubles than answers to the authority as the wrangling continues leaving ordinary Gambians at great risk in terms of food.
