The National Assembly Public Enterprise committee (PEC) on Tuesday suspended the presentation of both Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and Gambia Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (GCCPC).
The Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) was suspended due to the absence of the auditor as the presentation cannot be complete without the management letter whiles the Gambia Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (GCCPC) was suspended due to absent of their board- chair.
Hon. Halifa Salleh, chairperson of the public Enterprise committee (PEC) of the National Assembly said: “we cannot complete the presentation without the management letter.”
He said the committees are working on their act under sub-section (4) of section 175 of the National Assembly to establish a committee to monitor the activities of all public enterprises
He said that they stand down due to the board-chair absent as these are tactical that need to be into consideration.
The committee deal with board-chair citing that the moment the board-chair is absent the presentation has been adjourned, he stated.
Nevertheless the Gambia Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (GCCPC) board-chair has selected one of the member of the board to represent the board-chair, but the national assemble select committee of Public Enterprise committee (PEC) where not satisfy with that decision and decided to suspend the presentation of their report 31st December 2017 and 2018, while Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) own where adjourned on Monday 17th February, 2020.
