The Jobe family in Serrekunda has threatened a legal action against Amadou Ceesay a land dealer over ‘illegal demolition ‘of their Jabang 66.77 hectares land.
Speaking to journalists Adama jobe said: “Amadou Ceesay a land dealer claimed to own our only inherited lease land in Jabang village from our father Yusupha Jobe, and we report the matter to the police, land department but nothing is seeming to be done.”
He said they have engaged the right authorities about the matter including the ministry of land and the police but that nothing fruitful is yet to come out of the engagement, saying “Amadou Ceesay is always escorted by the Latria police anytime he’s visit their land.”
According to him, they have produced all necessary documents to the police and land department, adding “the police are very disappointing they are expecting to protect people’s lives and property, but in this case they are the very people aiding and enabling criminals, to encourage peoples land, a lease land for that matter, this is very surprising and disappointing.”
We also confronted the tax force for their interference to settle this matter, but for almost six months now no respond and they know that there are crimes committed there by this land crusher who are back by the police, he said.
He said they wrote letters to the land department, governor of west coast region and police stations on several occasion to interfere lawfully and legally.
Mr Jobe appealed to the government to take steps and give them justice, adding “all we want is our land, we are not afraid is just that we are law abiding.”
Fatou Jobe who alspo spoke said the issue of their only inherited land from their father has been dragging for so long saying “we feel that we also need you people because you play key role in terms of informing and educating the public to also voice out the problem we are facing as citizen.”
“We have gone through a lot of cases, court cases, police case but still nothing is done, we feel neglected and disappointed because we don’t know who to talk to any more, are we not Gambians? She said.
