The Organization for Peace and Humanitarian Assistance (OPHA) in collaboration with Heavenly Culture Word Peace Restoration of Light (HWPL) Thursday organized a youth peace seminar held at the American Corner in Kairaba Avenue.
The conference with theme “Promoting Peace Work in The Gambia According to Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War” was interacted and well attended.
Speaking at the conference Mr. Bolar Senior Peace and Conflict Resolution Lecturer at AIU also at Legacy University enjoined everyone to strive for sustainable peace. He said it is the lasting one instead of negative peace that harbors catalysts of possible violent and conflicts, added that “not all conflicts are destructive as there are constructive conflicts.”
As the world is tired of war and human race, James F. Mendy President of OPHA and Peace Activist stated that human race deserves to live in peace and dignity while Declaration of Peace Cessation of War, highly need international support of the government for endorsement of the United Nation.
The OPHA president stated that it is important for everyone to always think of constructive and peaceful ways of discussing our differences to reach beneficial outcome and quickly added that “we must value and nurture peace in order to achieve what we want.”
He however disclosed that HWPL is a powerful international peace organization that is interested and ready to work for peace in the Gambia. He disclosed further that both OPHA and HWPL always discuss very important peace programs and activities that are very much relevant to the collective pursuit for peaceful coexistence to ensure sustainable peace and socio-economic development.
He dilated on importance of endorsing peace work In The Gambia especially by the youths which are the cream of our societies hence they constitute the largest part of the country’s population.
He therefore called on all Gambians especially youths and the government to endorse the Declaration as it is been seriously taken by HWPL for the benefit of entire humanity.
Luke Jatta PRO of OPHA said constitute members have been working selflessly to ensure that peace is the order of the day in the country.
