Police are Basse are keeping thieves nabbed in Monday’s Basse market fire that destroyed almost the entire market.
The unconfirmed numbers of thieves have been arrested during the hit an inferno tearing through the market as they are reported to be acting like fighting the fire.
But during the process, police in Basse discerned their actions as thieves and nabbed a number of them. They have been held in custody since then.
Speaking to Star FM radio on Tuesday, chairman of Basse Area Council Foday Danjo said: “…those thieves are still kept in custody as they help the police in their investigations. Those bad people because as people were in trouble trying to put off the fire, they were busy stealing people properties.”
