Yankuba S. Darboe an executive member pressure group “Three Years Jotna”, meaning “three years has reached”, has revealed that he am his colleagues are ready to go to Mile Two hundred times for The Gambia.
The Gambian based UK barrister made this statement to the press shortly after his release from State Central Prison (Mile II).
He and seven members of the disbanded self-styled group “Three Years Jotna” were arrested on the 26th January, 2020 for leading of a protest pressing for President Adama Barrow to resign.
The protest turned violence. This was the second time in less than two months that the group organised an action in its drive to bring down the Barrow government which came to power through a marriage of convenience by way of a grand coalition of opposition parties formed in 2016.
They were charged for three counts including unlawful assembly, rioting after proclamation and destruction of properties by the Kanifing Magistrate Court that later referred the case to High Court for lack of jurisdiction.
“We are not scared to go back there, we will go there for ever and ever as long they want to trample on the rights of The Gambians.
We will make it clear to them, three years was the agreement signed, three years was the promise, a pledge made to The Gambian people and it is now three years and that three years will be fulfilled,” Lawyer Darboe pointed out
Darboe said he and his colleagues will not relent in their mission to ensuring that three years is respected by President Adama Barrow.
