‘No one can deny APRC Development from 1994-2016’- FTJ

By Yusupha Jobe

The interim leader of the opposition party – Alliance for Patriotic Re-orientation and Construction (APRC) has stated that no person can stand to deny the facts by saying the former ruling party did not transformed every sector of the country from 1994 to 2016.

“Of course, there will be no one to deny such facts and that is the truth. Even though there are others who are only interested in mentioning atrocities committed by the party but no one mention the developments that APRC also brought to Gambians,” he said.

Fabakary Tombong Jatta made this statement over the weekend during a special political radio talk show programme at Teranga FM Radio. There he said the APRC government has not entirely denied the atrocities that might be committed under their regime.

But “Gambians should also allow people to accept the developments brought by the APRC leadership since taken over power in 1994. I do not think there can be any genuine Gambian citizen who will stand to say APRC, since taken over power in 1994 did not transformed every sector of the county development ambition,” Jatta stated.

He disclosed that APRC has accepted to denounce all the killing and other atrocities that might be committed during the 22 years under ex-President Yahya Jammeh regime. He said the party has admitted the wrong and also accepted the on-going truth commission investigations to allow revelations of truthful results of what has happened in the past in order for Gambians to be able to reconcile.

“I have said it here that anything which might include the killing of people including committing of other serious atrocities by the past regime, we have condemned it all. And this is why we have accepted and welcomed the current investigations of the TRRC to establish the truth,” he said. He continued that this will allow everyone to reconcile with our own people for the sake of national peace.

He stressed that “we cannot be forced to the corner by some people because of their personal prejudice against the APRC party that cannot be accepted.  And I believed everything should be in a rightful procedure as investigations are concern.”
