Alieu K Darboe, Councillor of Brikama Kembujeh ward has expressed displeasure over late payment of tax within his ward and other wards.
Mr Darboe was speaking in an exclusive interview with The Voice during the weekend, saying development of their wards and the country entirely depends on the tax received by the council.
He stated that “many people are defaulters even in my own Ward and it’s the only source of income which the development is centred on for the council,” he said.
He noted that without proper tax payment, to attain development will be slow, and this is not the wish of the councillors who were elected to serve people.
He however called on everyone especially the business owners and land owners to pay their tax on time to avoid unnecessary confrontations with the council.
According to him, he has lobbied with the support of his VDC recently 200 trips of gravel for the community of Missira from geology and 200 litres of fuel approved through his office to carry on rehabilitation work in his ward.
