Hon. Jatta says ‘Caribbean are an Example of Good Collaboration’

Hon. Sidia S. Jatta, National Assembly Member for Wuli West, Upper River Region has said that the government and people of the Caribbean Island of Cuba are an example of good collaboration because they practice it selflessly.

“If Cuba was not blocked, it could help African countries more, with which historically it has always been very supportive, as with many others in different regions of the world,” he said.

He made the statement on Wednesday at National Assembly in Banjul, where members of the Gambia-Cuba Friendship Group rejected the blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean nation for almost 60 years, and also highlighted the solidarity spirit of the Cubans.

According to statement made available by the Cuban embassy, the Gambian lawmakers described Washington’s policy as “illegal and unfair.”

Hon. Alhagie Drammeh commended the Cuban Medical Brigade (BMC) for the humanitarian work carried out by healing and saving lives of his compatriots

Similar statements were made by the head of the Health Committee of the National Assembly, Hon. Ousman Sillah, also an active member of the Gambia-Cuba Legislative Friendship Group – he chaired the meeting with Ambassador Rubén G. Abelenda.
