Friend of The Gambia – British charity on Sunday certified determined students as they celebrated pride awarding program. The charity Is involved into area of Health and Agriculture and contribute to other sector where there is a need to assist the people.
Momodou Camara, charity country representative said: “we have sponsored more than 3oo students and some of our sponsored students are currently now lawyers, nurses and some going to university.”
According to him, they pay all the terms for every student which alone is about 3 million dalasi of the total expenditure in a year and there sponsored is country wide.
Every year we do some distribution to various schools and also build a health center in Bakidic in North Bank, he added.
“We do sponsor students up to tertiary level and for furthering it depend on the individual if he or she wants to further his/her education up to university,” he said.
He urge the parent to summit their children report card on time and also write a letter to them if schools give out there report lately.
Rob Isdale Chairman of FOTGA said: “I have been attending this meeting for many years and I’m impressed by the commitment of students to their education.”
To sponsor a child is like given the child a tool box adding it is now the responsibility of the child to use the tools wisely in order to be successful, Rob said.
He challenged the student to work hard adding that it takes hard work and dedication to succeed in life as education is the starting key.
Aunty Sera member of FOTGA said “although health is important but education has the power to take you to higher height and do not joke with your education.”
She urged the parents to be faithful to their children if the receive the money as they are the feature leaders of tomorrow.
