WAEC Suspends Business Due To Coronavirus

West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination has Friday said in a released statement of their suspending business on the sub region in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Coronavirus which emerged in China last December has in the few months spread across the globe forcing multiple countries, international bodies and local to shut down businesses.

Friday, 20th March, the regional examination body for the Anglophone countries in a statement signed by E.K. Myers, Ag Head, IED, for the Registrar, said: “The negative impact of the novel and deadly COVID 19 pandemic and the subsequent protocols put in place by government of member countries to prevent the spread of the disease have serious implications for the conduct of WASSCE for School candidates, 2020 as agreed by the national Offices.”

“Please note that the proposal from the Secretariat on the need to reschedule WASSCE[SC] 2020 was approved by the Chairman of the Council,” the statement added.

According to the statement, the WASSCE [SC] 2020 Timetable to be suspended until further notice; the conduct of WASSCE [SC] 2020 to be put on hold until further notice; directive (1) and (2) will be received when the health stimulation improves.
