NAWEC Joins fight against COVID-19, As company donates water tanks to Wellingara

As part of their contribution to fight and prevent people from the deadly covid-19, the National Water and Electricity Company has also joined the fight against the deadly coronavirus pandemic in the country and donated water tanks and sanitizers to communities.

The company, Tuesday donated two 2000 litres of water tanks to Wellingara community that seeks to help contain the further spread of the virus in the country as the country’s coronavirus pandemic case stands at 3 including two men and one woman, which One of them died already.

The virus emerged last year December in China and more than 10,000 people had succumbed to the virus and thousands of others are infected with it.
Gallo Saidy, Managing Director of the task force explained that the donated items a way to help communities that face challenges of water.

As frequent washing of hands is one of the guidelines to avoid contacting the virus, he said the items will help in term of availability of water to wash hands and keep good hygiene.
According to him, NAWEC is doing the help for communities that frequently face water challenges, adding “what NAWEC is doing is to be proactive to try to help the communities.”

He advised the public to be vigilant about the virus and not panic
Yaya Nyagado, a resident of Wellingara Banataba despite hailing the company’s support, said “we encounter water shortage in this community always and our taps are sometime closed for a week or more than that.”

Isatou Jawo and Matida Samura both hailed the company for their support, they said it will help their community in addressing water challenges they have been facing for years.

The duo also urged fellow community members to judiciously use the tanks and follow precautionary measures of the World Health Organisation and Ministry of health to avoid being infected with the virus.
