A fear of coronavirus pandemic is growing among Gambians since the country as so far registered three cases of the virus, which one of them, a Bangladeshi man died of the virus.
LaminJassey, said in an interview, that: “nobody is safe right now as far as people are still converging in various places where they can unknowingly contact and spread the virus and also late report and confirmation of the infected people.”
To him, he believes that coronavirus pandemic is a man-made “because it continues to spread across the globe in speed and killing thousands of people.”
He urged people to take preventive measure to prevent themselves from the pandemic which has no cure as of now.
Mariama Fatty, to her, Gambia in general is not safe from the coronavirus pandemic due to the scenarios of the infected but died Bangladeshi and other infected people.
She however expressed concern over attitude of some people within the society for not following the guidelines of the WHO and violating the ban on public gathering.
“Gambians should learn by example from countries like Italy, Spain and many others that are finding it difficult to control the virus,” she said.
According to her, Ministry of Health and entire government should double up their efforts to come with new strategy that will help to keep people at bay of the pandemic.
Ousman Mboob said “As of now nobody is safe because information circulating is not helpful but putting people’s lives at risks.”
He wants government bemore transparent over the issue especial health ministry to always update the people as possibly as they can.
