Lower Saloum NAM Calls on BorderVillages to Report Unofficial Entries

The National Assembly Member for Lower Saloum has called on border villages within his constituency to report anyone who enters the country without official confirmation.

He also advised them to be vigilant of the present situation which coronavirus pandemic is causing.
Honorable Sainey Jawara made the call during a sensitization tour within his constituency on Thursday in an effort to fight against the deadly Covid-19.

“We have embarked on a sensitization activity within the constituency in a bid to raise the awareness of the people. There are a lot of unofficial borders entry points in this area whereby some people use to transact their businesses or visit relatives.”

But now he said “the borders are officially close, we are advising people to desist from such practices till further notice,” he said in an interview with The Voice.

He disclosed that the visit to these border points was based on thought of office of the MP and AndaDaan Covid-19 youth group as they felt the need to sensitize people on the dangers of this deadly disease especially in these border communities.

He therefore appealed to the communities to remain vigilant and report any unauthorized entries in the country to the police or relevant authorities. This he said is part of the measures to protect the people from contacting and spreading of the virus.

He emphasised that more lives can be saved if people adhere to the advice of health experts which include avoid touching faces, mouth and nose unless you wash your hand after touching any object, report any suspected case immediately to health authorities.

The Honorable noted that office of the MP and AndaDaan Covid-19 youth group has distributed hand washing buckets , sanitizers, bleach and tissue papers among other sanitary materials to the local communities.

Meanwhile, Ebrima Alanso Keita and Sako Jeng both youth leaders in Lower Saloum applauded the work of the lawmaker

They also urged people of the constituency to practice hand washing and reduce unnecessary outing which might lead to the spread and contact of the pandemic.
